Jan is a radio talk show host on KSPA AM 1510, (Bloomberg Radio), broadcasting to 12 million people throughout Inland Empire & Orange County Saturdays 10:30 – 11:00 am on Senior Living at its Best with Jan Fowler. She is an award-winning columnist on senior living (winner of 1st place Excellence in Journalism Award in southern CA -SPJ) and a popular emcee at senior dating conferences.
Jan is also available as an inspirational speaker on such topics as “Make the BEST of your life for the REST of your Life!”, “Preparing for a Fabulous Retirement”, and “Finding love and Romance in Later Life”. Her best-selling book, Hot Chocolate for Seniors, won national and international gold seals, plus a gold medal. Jan was producer/host of “Jan Fowler Presents Senior Moments” TV series on senior life, which aired in Southern California and on the East coast.
She was one of ten Inland Empire, CA women to receive the Town & Gown “Phenomenal Women” award for service to her community (2005) and was twice the recipient of “Woman of Achievement” awards given by the National League of American Pen Women.
In 2002, Jan founded Starburst Inspirations, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which supports Redlands Drug Court. Monetary proceeds from fund-raising events–plus stylish used clothing–are donated to participants going through drug and alcohol rehabilitation, many of whom are trying to regain custody of children taken from them and placed in foster care.
Jan is a graduate of Emerson College (Boston), also the alma mater of such luminaries as Jay Leno and Henry Winkler. She is a trophy-winner as a community theatre actress.
A Mission to Inspire
“My mission is to inspire seniors everywhere to enjoy happy healthy productive lives by taking good care of ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, finding purpose, staying connected to others, and discovering magical moments in everyday living” says Jan. “This is a wonderful season in life and I feel we should seize every opportunity to transform senior moments into golden moments–after all, growing older is a privilege denied to many!”
Jan’s interests include ballroom dancing, gardening, traveling, live theatre, and picnics in the park. She has five grandchildren and lives in Southern California.
